I mentioned before about looking at friends profiles (mostly the top8) and look for pics of your girl. Their friends are looking for a picture that makes them look good and not making your girl look good. You can usually find the truth that way.

You can also talk to the girl about eating healthy, going to the gym, doing outdoors type stuff... you'll usually be able to spot a fatty by the responses they give.
