Default Re: Moving up limits to chase losses, first trouble hand

Against an unknown on an unknown level, I try to play a small pot here with this hand so I check behind preflop.

I don't mind the flop call. OP has a strong hand here for such a short table. I hope villain shuts down on the turn or makes weak bets. I don't want to invest big bets on the flop here. The information you get probably isn't worth 8 bucks. When he calls on such a ragged board, you almost know nothing about his hand. And you get in a tight spot with a certainly mediocre hand in a huge pot. If he folds, you probably left money on the table. Only if he raises, you can fold with some confidence. I can do the same thing when he bets the turn very strongly.
OTOH, I probably fold to the big turn bet.
