Christopher Guest and all of his friends do their yearly talent show again. This time it's on the set with a movie production of "Home for Purim", a story about a Jewish family with a dying matriarch, navy son, and estranged gay daughter. Suddenly there's oscar buzz, and hilarity ensues. It bothers me on an intellectual level that he keeps making the same mockumentary every couple years with the same actors just trying out slightly kookier characters. It would bother me more if it wasn't so funny every time. It's pretty average when I fall into the trap of comparing it to the early Guest movies like Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show. It's above average when I actually compare it to other comedies I've seen in the last couple years.
