Blake, you're my hero for posting all those convos. The pushing away and lack of compliments early on is key. It is worth noting that [censored] appears to have had reasonable success with compliments once he's been talking with a girl for awhile, like the chick on the car - and as long as it's delivered with some innuendo, not any "oh I think you're so pretty" crap.
I think the messages the fake chick accounts are getting is proving the worth of "inside?" as an opener. I've yet to use it myself but it's just now occurring to me that the girls I've been sending messages to probably get tons of messages exactly like the ones I send them all the time, which is why I've bricked all the time (it's obviously not because of my
amazingly pimp myspace page - and 2+2ers, add me, I think the larger # of friends you have, the better).
I've tried with 5 girls in the central Oregon area, where I'm visiting my parents this week. Only one replied. The convo went something like this (since Myspace is broken for me right now - OH GOD DAMMIT, THEY'RE UPGRADING TILL 5AM PST):
me: i'm dying to know, what's the difference between beer nuts and deer nuts?
this was referencing a joke on her profile, she said "message me if you want to know"
her: beer nuts cost almost a buck, while deer nuts are under a buck! have a nice day!
me: haha, that's funny. so here's one: how much does a polar bear weigh?
yes, i'm a tool
her: how much???
me: enough to break the ice! zing!!! i'm actually up in bend visiting my parents for xmas, and they just moved here from california so i'm new to the area...anything fun to do?
this is pretty much the same message (minus the polar bear part, and slightly tailored to each profile) that I sent to the other four girls that never responded
...and at this point, the conversation dies. I can't partake in the activities for a couple more weeks until I'm back at school. Then, it's on with "inside?". In the meantime, I'm looking forward to everyone's progress + trainwrecks.
