Eventually, yes; but it's survived for 1400 years, so it likely has a ways to go yet still.

I believe we were talking about radical islam in Western countries, which has existed only recently. Certainly Iran and Saudi Arabia and whoever else don't have a well functioning marketplace of ideas and therefore radical islam flourishes in such places, as you would expect.
