Think of all the places your credit information is and then all the employees responsible to keep that information safe, the hackers trying to gain that information, etc. It is near impossible. Recently there have been large breeches at TJX Company (Bob's, Marshalls, AJ Wright) and Office Max. These consumers would be considered perfectly vigilant, outside factors just got the best of them.
