Pavano has worked out well, but Cashman and George signed him after he had ONE really good year.

Up till then he hadn't pitched a full season ever or put up spectacular numbers.

And letting Lieber go was awful. Cashman made a misjugement of the pitchers market and the relative pricing.

Look at Vazquez now. Look at El Duque and Contreras now. Pitching in NY is more difficult for some people; I understand that.

But there is no question that our pitching was better last year. Maybe not on paper, but the results proved it.
