If I'm remembering the recent doc correctly, there are around 60-80 million Evangelicals. The National Association of Evangelicals has 30 million registered members.

Another source estimate:
"When all is said and done, a general estimate of the nation's evangelical population could safely be said to average somewhere between 30-35% of the population, or about 100 million Americans." http://www.wheaton.edu/isae/defining...elicalism.html

I'd say the numbers are significant. The numbers mean even more because they are all on the same page, they meet regularly and vote in blocs.
