Well the Yankees are now sharing the basement of the AL East with our friends the Devil Rays. The only benefit of this is that the couches down here are really comfortable, and Lou Piniella is a fun guy when he doesn't drink too much.
That said, this weekend presents a great opportunity for the Yankees to get back on track. The A's are coming off being swept by the Rangers at home.
Tonight's pitching matchup is Barry Zito of the A's against Carl Pavano of the Yankees. Look for Pavano to be dominant tonight against the weak offense of the A's, and look for the Yankee bats to hit Zito hard.
Look for Mussina to be great against the A's tomorrow, and for Kevin Brown to finally have a good outing against them on Sunday.
Prediction: The Yankees sweep the A's, and record their first three-game winning streak of the year.
