Re: I want to start threads too / suggestions thread
I hope I read it correctly that if I want to see a thread started I must suggest it here first.
I wanted to start a thread about guaranteed/non-guaranteed contracts in the big 4.
Which is better and why?
My knowledge is based mostly in the NBA and NFL. I know a little about MLB and almost nothing about the NHL.
As an NBA fan it pisses me off when I see a player get hurt (sometimes career ending and the team have to give away their ability to win until that contract is up.
The way I understand it is if a player who makes 10 mil a year and has 4 years left on his contract for that same amount per year then that team has to not only pay that player but that cash goes against the salary cap. How does that seem fair?
As far as the NFL goes I used to get pissed when a player holds out on their contract. I'd always say "honor your contract". But that wouldn't be fair since a player can sign a 3 year deal, for example, then get cut after the first year.
What is everyones thoughts on which is better and why?
