I meant to post this earlier. I have to c/f this right? Villain was a solid player.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

BB ($107.60)
UTG ($72.10)
MP ($30.85)
Button ($32.85)
Hero ($70.70)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
3 folds, Hero raises to $2, BB raises to $7, Hero raises to $20, BB calls $13.

Flop: ($40) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $25, Hero folds.

Can anyone tell me if this is fine? I highly doubt villain bets here without an A but I could be wrong.

I think by your 4bet preflop and your check on flop, you turn your hand face up. He could probably bet there with QQ, but I guess you have to lay it down.

Oh and happy bday Matrix!

Normally I'd bet here but the pot was $40 and a bet would cost me like $20-$30 and I wasn't sure if it was worth it as I'd only get called by a hand that beats me.

folding is fine - if you bet this flop you are basically going all-in (you're not folding to a $20 turn bet (rest of your stack) when the pot is $120 are you?)

much much better to 4bet all-in preflop and hope he calls you then with AK rather than stick it all in on an A high flop and wind up drawing to possibly 1 solitary out.

Generally speaking you ought to open push these flops rather than check them cos checking is like saying "I have a big pair thats not Aces" He'll snap call with any ace usually - sometimes he might lay down Alittlesooted that he had no business calling preflop with, he'll almost def fold KK/QQ/JJ/TT (which is a fair % of his calling range) but usually he has an Ace here so check folding an A flop isn't terrible- at worst it's a mior mistake - and it's not as tho it's one you can make all that often as this situation only comes up once every 2000 hands dealt or so (getting dealt KK OOP on an A high flop) at most.

It's far and away better to just make all your 4bets with good hands pushes (Assuming 100BBish stacks - obv deeper it's not so clever) cos villain is liking his hand enough to 3bet so is less likely to fold and you're usually WA of his calling range with KK.

We are almost 150 bbs deep here so I didn't think of 4bet pushing.
