part 21

the alarm goes off way too early. i call to get a late checkout, and i get to stay until 1. this is good. i call back at noon, and ask if i can stay until 3 or 4 (my plane doesn't leave until 6 in the evening), and they say it'll be $60. WTF?!? i'm not paying 60 for 2 more hours out of principle. they say they'll transfer me to the rewards people to see if they can comp me the extra time.

i get transfered and talk to a lady, "sorry, we can't give you an extended stay, but you can maybe get a good price if you talk to the front desk." GAYYY!!!

i can't complain too much, b/c i got the rooms for free, but it still totally blows. i feel like complete [censored], and don't feel like having to wander around vegas for a few hours when i could be sleeping. oh well, the only way they're getting $60 out of me is by prying it from my cold, dead fingers....or showing me the way to the nearest blackjack table.

i pack up, skip the shower(i'll probably smell like stripper, but oh well), and take my bags to the holding spot. i decide to wander over to the bellagio b/c, even though i've been to vegas 5 times, i've still never played there.

i put my name on the 2/5 list, and go catch the brunch buffet(i'd never eaten there either).

after waiting in a long line, i get my seat. i get a plate that consists of:

1 small portion of scrambled eggs
1 slice pizza
6 shrimp w/cocktail sauce
2 pieces cali. roll

after washing it down w/some delicious oj, i can tell that the stomach isn't up to a full-fledged buffet at this point. i tip the waitress and go on my way. $29 well spent (including tip).

i go back to the poker room where there's a nice older lady brush (atypical from my experience). i look at the list, and notice i've been skipped over by like 2 places. DAMNIT. i explain politely that i just went to eat real quick, and i got passed by. i show her my name, and she tells me to go grab chips, and stand close by; she'll take care of me. AWESOME!!!

i go get 300 to test the waters, and get into a game immediately. i give the lady a redbird b/c i'm very appreciative of the gesture (i don't have a lot of time).

i forgot about this when i said there wasn't really much poker left

i get into 8-seat (i believe it's 10-handed there), and there's a nasty hand immediately when i sit down against a foreign guy(i think german) in the 10, and a dude in the 4. there's a board with KJTXX 3-spades, (third spade came on the turn, J came on the river), and the 10 has come over the top of 4's bet all-in (heads up). i read both hands perfectly, and 4 calls having rivered broadway whereas 10 turned the nut flush. 4 wishes he had my skillz.

after a minute, the 9 seat gets filled with a new guy. he buys in for 500, and am not really sure what to make of him at this point.

the first hand he's dealt in, i raise to 20 after a limper with QJs and he calls. i miss the low flop and c-bet for 30. 9 reraises to 60, and i fold. i immediately pull out 200 more out of my roll to put in my stack b/c i see that's how it's gonna be.

not too many hands later, i get into a big hand (remember my love for getting involved with weak hands pre-flop).

a gazillion people limp in, and i limp in with 43o in LP. the 9 raises to 20 in the CO, the button (german) cold-calls, and 3 more people call. there's 5 callers before me, so i throw in 15 more to take a 6-way flop in LP.

the flop is 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SWEET

it checks to me, and i bet out 40 i think. 9 folds, german calls, everyone else folds. heads up to the turn.

i'm thinking that he might have like A8 or something or maybe a weak over-pair like TT, so i'm happy to have him along for the ride.

i bet 80, and he calls again.

while this puts 3 diamonds on the board, i'm pretty confident in my read that he was not drawing to a big hand like a flush. in fact, i'm really thinking this may have given him A's up so i throw my 2 $100 bills into the pot to which he responds all-in.

crap....maybe he did flop 8's full after all. oh well, i can't go back now...it's less than 100 more i think. i call.

he says, well, if you got 4 4's you got me, and flips over AA.

my stomach drops as i see the 2-outter get pushed to him for around 800 or something...i dunno...i don't care at this point.

i pull out 400 out of my pocket, and steam for a second. i don't yell or cry or anything, but just sit there silently feeling sorry for myself. i fold Q2o the next hand with shaky hands still steaming pretty good.

2 hands after the stunning AA beats 34o hand, i get dealt 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and limp in along with 3 or 4 more.

flop is J63, and it checks around.

turn 6.....BINGOOOOOO!

guy to my right checks, i bet like 30, he check-raises to 80, and i insta-tilty-steaming-all-in for my 400 something. he insta-non-tilty-calls and i'm like [censored], you have to be kidding me.

he turns over A6, and i sadly turn over 86.....but then i start to feel it. all of a sudden, i'm not worried, and casually enough, the 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] comes off on the river for a $700+ pot. hey, at least i had 3 outs instead of 2 right?

i feel bad that it had to come at the expense of a different guy, but 2 hands later, and i'm in much better shape.

only significant hands i can remember after that are both TT.

one, i cold-call in the sb after a raise and flop a set. i get ZERO action.

two, i raise pre-flop, and a guy to my immediate left (i've moved to the 10 seat, so the 1 seat...i think a local) calls. flop is J-high with 2 clubs, and i bet out 40. he min-raises, and i'll have none of that. i re-raise to 205 total, and he folds.

i leave at this point only down 200 or so, and go get my stuff.
