Re: My Story + An Offer (HOLY BALLS LONG)
Age: 19
Experience: 1.5 years. I started during the beginning of my senior year in high school and now I'm a freshman in college. I started with my friends playing $5 games, and then we started playing online. I played PokerStars first, the $5 sit n gos, then I tried Full Tilt. I didn't like the tournament structure much with the blinds constantly increasing and if you get bad beat once, you are eliminated. So I switched to cash games. I played the NL 10 for a while, losing most of the time, but then I found books at Borders and started reading. I read a ton of books, especially Dan Harrington's 3 volume books which I liked a lot (even though they are for tournaments). I also like Skalansky's newest book, Theory and Practice. So after tons or reading and playing NL 10, I began winning and I moved up limits. First NL 25, then NL 50. I built a pretty good roll playing NL 50 (about 1k) but lost a lot when I moved up to NL 100. I also played live at Turning Stone $1/2 blinds, but I ended up losing $500 to quite a few bad beats. I was playing very solid there but my overpairs got busted four times when I got it all in preflop. Because of this, I lost a lot of my bankroll. So now, I'm back to grinding NL 50. I am currently averaging 7.33BB/100 hands over 10k hands. I would very much like to move up to NL 100 and start winning at those stakes.
Most tables you can see yourself playing: 6. That's the number of tables I usually play grinding NL 50.
Current Bankroll: ~$800
What you expect to get out of this arrangement: I want to become a better poker player of course, but I would also like to be able to actually have the confidence to play NL 100. I have played NL 100 before, and ended up losing most of my bankroll , so I am very intimidated of moving up limits. With a coach that would help me analyze difficult situations, it would make the transition a much easier and smoother task. I often watch people play the higher stakes at Full Tilt Poker and wonder what they are thinking and how they handle difficult situations, but with a coach, I don't have to wonder anymore; I can actually have the coach explain to me what kind of hands that the players have and what moves the players are capable of making. I would very much love to have a coach direct me in my pursuit of becoming a good poker player.
