Re: Not wanting to go to sleep
I realized there are a few psychological reasons I do this:
I like the idea of going to sleep. Specifically, going to sleep and then of not having anything to do the next day. Actually sleeping ruins this experience/idea because then I will just wake up and not have really experienced the actual sleep, due to the unconscious state. In contrast, staying awake allows me to continue fantasizing about how great going to sleep will be. And finally going to sleep is even better, or just unavoidable which is also kind of cool.
Another thing I do highly related to this is excessive snoozing. I love falling back asleep, not waking up. Just saying no to it. Falling back asleep like ten or more times.
