Re: Who Are The Most Overrated Poker Players? (and Why?)
Surprised nobody mentioned Hellmuth. Hellmuth overrates himself. He might be the second greatest No Limit Hold 'Em Tournament player ever after Stu Ungar, and in that specific sense he isn't overrated, but in any other category he is.
Before I read Professor/Banker/Suicide King I thought Lederer was, but seems like he just wasn't playing tournaments until about the time the WPT rolled around. He should be coming back to full time play soon and i'd like to see him pick up another couple braclets and some other tournaments to cement his legacy.
Ever noticed that none of Ivey's braclets are in No-Limit? Isn't that an interesting fact? Read an interview recently where he said he wasn't really into a lot of the tournaments he was playing in the past. He actually said he'd dump his chips off to go play in the juicy sidegames. Said he's now committed himself to going all the way, playing 100% to win or not playing. Should be interesting. God after what he did to Andy Beal this year, people should just write him a check and save their time.
Annie is still overrated, but I think she's capable of proving herself. Have to wait and see. Jennifer is way out of her league btw.
Right now everyone is drinking the Allen Cunningham cool-aid, gotta see where that goes. People are starting to put him just behind Ivey, I never really noticed the guy before this year's WSOP, like to see him prove himself a bit more before I get on the bandwagon.
Oh, and for the thread, Amarilo Slim is/was/and forever shall be the most overrated poker player ever. lol.
