The thing that Stoudemire and Diaw do so well is set the screen (legally), but then start to "roll," but do it in a way that they are still screening against the defender.
It's really a gray area, but the NBA seems to be allowing it.
It's why Nash is able to drive to the basket so often, and it looks like no one is playing D on him, but his defender has been picked off the screen, and if another defender commits to Nash, he finds the person they were guarding for an easy basket, and if no one commits, easy layup for Steve. It happened a couple times against Dallas last night.
