Christa McAuliffe went to my high school (20 years before me). My entire school was watching that liftoff, most in the auditorium, some in classrooms.

Many teachers and students broke down. They closed the school at noon. The next day the school had about a dozen 'trauma counselors' on site for anyone who needed to talk.

I mostly just got stoned, so it didn't matter too much to me....

Edit: What color were Christa McAuliffe's eyes?
