Re: The most famous person you met (and story )?
Iggy's story wins. The Ben Wright story is awesome - I'm probably one of the few reading this thread that know him, but it involved way more hanging out etc. than some of the others, whose entire interaction involved an exchange along the lines of "sup?"
Mike Tyson lives here (PHX) so I see him once in awhile, but a few years ago when Jamal Anderson (I think that was his name) was tearing it up for the Atlanta Falcons for a brief time, Tyson came in our gym to lift with Jamal's father. Afterwards I was going to the steam sauna and a friend of mine was in the hot tub with him, talking. I joined in and had a brief convo w/Tyson, and to this day my friend is pissed that I barged into their conversation and tells everyone who will listen that I cannonballed into the hot tub (!) and that made Tyson leave. Dude is as short as he is wide, and didn't mind walking around with Mike Jr. waving all over the place. I couldn't help but look - Mike Jr. is almost as big as Mike.
This may be obscure to non-college BB fans, but about 15 years ago I went with my old man to pick up Lou Carnesecca at his hotel. My father has been in sports marketing his whole life and he flew Lou and Blazer Bill, from the Portland Trailblazers, into Cedar Rapids IA for some promotions. His team's head coach was Rick Barry, so I got to meet him too.
Funny, at the time Carnasecca was a college basketball legend, when I went to get him he was wearing his famous red sweater and stuck his hand out and said "hi, I'm Lou Carnesecca", I was like yeah, I know. Super nice guy.
