There's a much higher risk of death or brain injury in boxing than in MMA. There's been a couple hundred deaths in boxing and only one in an unsanctioned MMA match.

Considering there ahve been litterally millions more boxing matches, that isn't exactly very compelling in terms of risk or long term effects, but ok. Maybe the MMA guys are scared to become boxers because it's too dangerous.
