I for one, am outraged by this (and I am a CPA). CPA licenses are given by each state. I haven't done a search, but does a felony conviction eliminate you from every state?

They tend to do that because they don't want accountants with past drug or financial problems handling lots of people's money. Too bad that's the case here, though. GL with the pardon, OP.

I agree that convicted felons should be more thoroughly screened, but an outright ban seems a bit harsh. CPA firms are hiring white collar criminals as consultants to help them provide services to client s who suspect fraud, so it's a bit hypocritical to not a mechanism whereby a felon may receive a license.
There are plenty of CPAs in jail who weren't felons when they passed the exam.
