BEAT: The opposite happened to me. I withdrew money from a money market account via a check and went to my bank to deposit it. I was going to use the money to buy an engagement ring. The deposit went through fine. I called the bank's automated hotline to check the ballance before I left home to make the purchase as I had never written a personal check for that large of an amount before. The funds were there. Bought the ring, wrote a check, 4 days later the jewelry store calls me and says my check bounced. The bank had pulled the funds because they were unsure it was my money as the money market check had my middle initial as W instead of H on the check for some reason. It all cleared up eventually and the bank didn't charge me an overdraft, paid the check and paid the fee the jewelry store charged me. Pain in the ass and nervewracking though.
