Re: Greatest Scene of Machismo From A Movie-NSFW
A western that I really like and I found underrated was Hombre with Paul Newman. Here our some of my favorite lines/scenes from Newman as the white man turned Apache in that flick.
(On the wagon trip when the rich white couple begins talking about their experience with the Apache's and how 'disgusting' they are, eating dog's and such.)
Audra Favor: I can't imagine eating a dog and not thinking anything of it.
John Russell: You even been hungry, lady? Not just ready for supper. Hungry enough so that your belly swells?
Audra Favor: I wouldn't care how hungry I got. I know I wouldn't eat one of those camp dogs.
John Russell: You'd eat it. You'd fight for the bones, too.
Audra Favor: Have you ever eaten a dog, Mr. Russell?
John Russell: Eaten one and lived like one.
Audra Favor: Dear me.
And...
The scene when the wagon is getting held up. One of the outlaws is a man who Newman (Russell) smashed a bottle of Mescal over the head of and made leave earlier in the movie when he was making fun of his Apache friend in a bar called Delgado's.
As the outlaws begin to leave...
Lamar Dean: [Russell has climbed to the top of the stage] Mister, what do you think you're doin'?
John Russell: Gettin' my things so I can start walkin'.
Lamar Dean: You think your going somewhere?
Russell: Why stay here?
Lamar Dean: Oh, yeah? How far do you think you'll get?
John Russell: That's to be seen.
[Dean shoots one of the water bags]
Lamar Dean: Now how far do you think you'll get? [chuckles]
Lamar Dean: [Russell doesn't answer] Mister, I know you from some place. Just can't remember where.
John Russell: [Dean begins to ride off] Maybe I'll make it as far as Delgado's.
Lamar Dean: What?
Russell: Maybe I'll make it as far as Delgado's so you can buy me some Mescal...
Dean: [Begins to gasp]
[Russell pulls out his rifle and shoots Dean in the face]
Russell's monotone expressions/voice throughout the whole movie is awesome...
