Well he said something about putting all the pieces together (like the watches) Plus soresh said that the brain was were everything was. So we have to assume he is using parts of brains to make the ultimate brain, sort of like his watch he'd been working on for seven years.

Sylar's power was that he can see how things are wrong and fix them if need be. He saw how the telecenetic's brain was wrong, and so knew how to do it himself, I think. Perhaps he needs to look at the brain to do it.

Also, if you can control matter on a molecular level, then no, you don't need glasses anymore.
