Most top picks get the benefit of doubt for a bunch of seasons unless they are truly awful. 9ers were left in the trash can when he was drafted and they actually looked worse on paper this year when the season started due to the leaving of Peterson, Lloyd and Carter and yet they've been better. He's not great but he's really young and has developed well. If he keeps developing along with Gore and an improved O-line, I think the 9ers will be alright with Smith at the helm. He's got a cannon and moves well in the pocket.
