Re: ask me about: hustling golf

I have been on the receiving end of two classic hustles:
1.) Pro-Poker Player named Jeff Friedman accepted a $2,000 bet that he could not break 80 in a "reverse-scramble" at MountainGate CC in LA....We "set-him-up" by have greenskeeper set the pins in really tough spots...Jeff shot 43 on the front (w/an OB)...then tried to buy-out for $1,200; we declined...He shot a 36 on the back...For those that don't know, a reverse-scramble means that the player has to hit two balls on every shot & take the "worst" one. Brutal format

I think this is an urban legend or something. If you are talking reverse scramble (one player playing two-ball/worst ball), even Tiger Woods is not shooting 36. Period. A scratch golfer would be lucky to shoot 45, 46 or 47 in such a format. Unless you played this format you don't really know how brutal and penal this format really is.
We did this in one of our men's night games and of about 20 golfers who shoot between 36 and 40 for 9 holes, the best score was 53!!!!
Ask any good golfer on this thread...it's not possible to shoot 36 in this format.
