Re: A note on the new sticky Hypocrisy
making specific blanket anti-racism policy is so absurd. Why don't we make blanket statements that you can't say anything derogatory about women, children, old people, bad poker players, basically there is a prejudice to EVERYTHING in the world. People said in THIS thread "this new policy is retarded; how is that any less offensive than a racist joke? Racism is a part of common vernacular and to take it away is absurd (whether it be intended racism, unintended racism (like indian-giver for lack of better example) or racism that makes fun of racists. If El Diablo, for example, made the ocassional racist comment, I don't think anyone would care. They might think he is an idiot for being racist, but he'd add a lot to the forum in other ways that merely banning people that make a flippant remark about racism seems very silly.
If you want to make 2+2 completely inoffensive; go ahead, but just tackling one random issue seems absurd and a complete waste of time. I don't mind a blanket statement where we don't allow pointless flaming against individuals, but who cares what one person thinks about a subgroup of people?
