Bazin is good. So is Dudley Moore -- the other one, not the actor. Truffaut on Hitchcock is definitely a must-read. Almost anything about Luis Bunuel is worth reading. I think Susan Sontag had an essay or two on film, as did Joyce Carol Oates.
