Default Re: Whiskey Review and Recommendation Thread

Some things I'm interested in:

How Red Breast (Irish) stacks up against the other premium Irish whiskeys.

Your thoughts on how Blanton's compares to Eagle Rare 17, Elijah Craig 18, and Booker's.

Your thoughts on how the Highland Park Scotches compare with similarly priced/aged Highland Scotches.

Your favorite Scotch for $70 or less.

If you'd ever reach for a Canadian whiskey over an American one (which, and why).

I'm not El D, but I think Redbreast stacks up very well at least against Bushmills' 16 and Jameson 18. It's been a while since I had Redbreast (or Jameson 18), but it has a kind of wine taste that other whiskies don't, and is definitely worth a try.

I haven't had Eagle Rare or Elijah Craig 18, but Blanton's > Booker's IMO - not as harsh, more flavor. I feel like Booker's has to be diluted a bit for me to enjoy it more. Also, has anyone had Wild Turkey Rare Breed? I felt this was true of that as well.

As for #5, I can't think of any Canadian whisky I've had that has any serious/complex taste, but Crown Royal is still good for some occasions.
