Default Re: Where I Tilt, and Spew, and Suck Out

Becuase Jax brought up longevity, I probably shouldve noted this in the original post.

This is a little over 2 months of play for me. 2 of the most painful, frustrating months of my 2 year poker career!

Last night I went over to fathers house so he could watch me play a little and see if I am just fundamentally doing something wrong. Got on a table with a maniac, which 99% of the time means a losing session for me for some reason. I get junk cards and watch huge pot after huge pot (avg pot was 9BB) get dragged at the table. My father (who is a weak-tight MUB player, so hes not really the best person for advice) tells me to just leave the table becuase he says "You are just going to sit out every hand until you get a big one and then the maniac is going to suck you out and you are going to get pissed".

Finally I get dealt red AA in the SB. Maniac in MP1 open raises like he almost always does. 2 callers. I 3-bet. Maniac of course caps. Flop is J63 w/2 clubs. I bet, maniac raises. 1 fold,1 caller and my dad now says "Just fold now he is going to beat you". I give my father a wierd look and 3-bet. Maniac calls. Button calls. Turn is J. My dad says "There's his other Jack, dont bet". I bet. Maniac calls, button calls. River is nothing. I bet, Maniac raises, Button folds, I call - Maniac has QJo and drags the 18BB pot. My dad gets the I told you so look and I am dealt AQs on button. Maniac wins that hand also when I miss my 4th flush of the evening.

I fold the circuit and quit, once again adding to the evidence that playing with a maniac on the table equals a huge losing session for me, pissed off as my father predicted not more then 15 minutes earlier.

And that story sums up the last two months in a nutshell!
