If we allow opponent to have anything there, then yes you would not play the flop that way but you'd also never get to the flop anyway so it's a moot point.

The question is regardless as to whether it is right or wrong to call the raise, if you do go ahead and call it, which hand would you now rather have. (Of course in reality if you hold the ace-queen you don't know that your opponent holds precisely jacks and vice-versa.)

I feel like we're just going in a circle here but I can't imagine even having this discussion about what you would do with AQ unless the pretenses are you are calling preflop because you do not put your opponent on AK or AA.
