This is the point i was making when i said that the UIGEA targets poker not sportsbetting.

Sportsbetting was already cooked, to use Free's term, thanks to the Wire Act. UIGEA really doesn't do much additionally from the perspective of the operator of a sportsbook.

Just because it was already illegal before doesn't mean the new law doesn't change anything. The wire act is over 40 years old, long before the internet was invented. The fact that Congress made the point to specifically include sports in the wording of the bill makes the government's stance much stronger, in my opinion.

This is of course coming from someone who knows very little about the law and just got into sports betting a few months ago.
