Re: Say goodbye to the dream
Jason,
Good decision, imo. I'm one year ahead of you in school (recent grad) and in some ways I wish I had taken my wall street offer. What some people don't realize is that for highly motivated and intelligent people, living the poker life isn't all it's cracked up to be. It isn't very stimulating to sit around all day and do nothing, even if you are making 7 figs a year.
I still get laughed at today by people who tell me a business I started over a year ago will never make me as much money as playing poker would. I was in a similar situation as I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur, and wanted to get some experience doing so. You will need to get experience trading, so taking a pay cut for a few years is just a means to the very lucrative end. Many people will tell you what you are doing is foolish, but it sounds like you are pretty happy/excited with your decision.
Send me an IM if you want to talk about the situation some more. Good luck to you, here's to being non-poker friends in 5 years.
