I think he moves:
7. Bg5
to pin our knight and cut off one of the attackers of d5.
If we instead move:
6. ... Nxd5
he's not going to exchange with Bxd5 and give us two bishops in an open position. If he follows with:
7. Nc3
we can exchange
7. ... Nxc3
8. Qxd8+ Kxd8
9. bxc3
and then he has an isolated c pawn
