Re: Can I bring my glock to a home game?
I'm going to go meta on all your asses; I found this thread in BBV and I'm going to make a serious response!
I have friends who are CC advocates. Some of them play poker. None of them have objected to my "no guns at the poker table" rule. In general, I think it's a good rule, although the symbolism of it is more important than the practicality as far as I'm concerned. I'm a big proponent of moving poker away from its violent image.
If you feel safe traveling from your car to the game, leave your gun in the car. If you don't feel safe traveling from your car to the game, bring a portable gun safe. When you show up, put the gun in the safe, lock it, and give it to the host. He can give it back (or enforce a cool-down time if necessary) when you leave.
If you don't feel safe in the game, don't play, period. Having a firearm on you isn't going to improve matters.
