Default Re: 11 BB Downswing? Post it in here! (Designated No Content Thread)

[ QUOTE ]
So tiltaholic has persuaded me to take a 50BB shot at 10/20 (well, he wanted 100BB, but I didn't want to blow 1/4 of my roll). Should be interesting. My plan for moving up is always this:

1) run hot
2) hit minor downswing
3) run about breakeven
4) lose until you're about even
5) start winning and never look back

I am currently on step 3.

i thought about what you said...

the pattern that repeats for me is:

1. run hot for <1000 hands. or at least feel like i'm hot, since the $s are doubled.
2. hit a downswing that feels major due to double stakes but is actually like 50bb.
3. spend some variable amount of time tilting/playing scared and being generally breakeven or losing.
4. start winning.
5. if this is 2/4, have a large downswing after 20k hands that makes me almost breakeven lifetime for the limit.

i guess i don't feel the need to specify a number of BB when i "move up" since i'm usually not simply moving up and not playing the original limit, but rather am transitioning up when i feel confident or when i find a good table...

my point was that you have 800bb at your current limit so even if you lost 100b at the higher limit you'd still have 600bb. (of course if you need the cash for something...then whatever...)

and also, you've "moved up" enough to know that the game is still the same and it's 90% psychological.
