I'm sure he did some things right. Bad players make good plays from time to time. Obviously his style is also good for acumulating chips which is important in tournaments. Everybody i've talked to that has played with him in a cash game has told me he is a donator. It's possible they're wrong because he has an atypical and high variance style but i doubt it.
