It is rational because they would make about $4 an hour otherwise.

BTW, if a dealer was expecting $2 per pot at a 3/6 game, I woudn't tip either. In a game that size, about $1 per pot is reasonable for a good dealer, and maybe $.50 per pot for an average one.
