Hmmm... I'll pipe up here with what I think the right play might have been.
I think the call on the SB is fine, you have a marginal hand and just have to complete a quarter to look for a strong flop.
On the flop you have TPGK, so I would have bet heavier there just to attempt to end the action. You don't want to see a J/Q/A hit the board, and if you are going to see it you want to make him pay for it. A larger bet (say $2-3) would have taken in a small pot with no further confusion.
On the turn, if my flop bet were called, I would check to feign weakness and hope for a bet. And make a strong play on the river if he checked behind.
