Oh puhleeze, have you read Miller and Sklansky's new book on NL Hold'em yet? Part of winning at NL is manipulating your opponents to play their hands poorly. I agree that Gold's banter was a sales job. There's a point where one could argue such banter crosses the line but Gold didn't even come close to the line IMO.
IMO we had mostly players at the FT who ply their NL skills on the Internet and thus aren't that used to this kind of tactic and don't know how to counteract it. Allen of course doesn't fit this criteria. I think he actually used the banter of Gold to his benefit.
