Re: Words you pronounced wrong for a long time (or others do)
When I was in either first or second grade I used to pass by a sign on the way to school everyday that said "character." I always thought it was tractor until I had it on one of my reading tests and got corrected by the teacher.
I still say melk instead of milk because I like it better, and for a long time I thought that vaseline and croissant were pronounced with "hard" s sounds because that's how they were always pronounced by my parents(and in India, I suppose)
Oh, and I didn't find out that raspberry has a p in it until around 2 years ago...
