I saw something on ESPN a year or so ago about Cunningham. Apparently he, Negreanu, Juanda, and another big name pro whose names escapes me (Lindgren maybe?) played a lot together when they were just starting out. Both Negreanu and Juanda said that Cunningham is now the best player out of that group.
The guy seems to have zero personality, though. I don't think he would be nearly as good an ambassador for the game as Raymer and Hachem have been.

The pre-action betting today had Cunningham at second choice at 6-1 to win the ME despite the fact he was sitting in 13th place. Last line I saw on Gold was 3-1.
