btw, have you heard the
buddy rich tapes ? apparently he was a real fun guy to work for.
I think rich and krupa were great drummers and certainly well known and popular (race probably was a factor in their popularity), but when you put their acheivements up to someone like elvin jones, who changed the face of jazz drumming, it's not really much of a contest.
