And almost every fan who bitches about teams appreciating in value ignores the carrying cost on the debt and the significant opportunity costs involved for 9-figure investments. Never as good or as bad as it seems I guess is my point.

You're right, I don't know about this, but I'd be interested in learning more. Most of my knowledge on this issue stems from baseball, where people like Doug Pappas (RIP) did a lot of work pointing out how FOS most of the owners were, but I don't recall seeing thist stuff mentioned. Can you expand?
