I find it interesting that those opposed to Israel basically never acknowledge such rhetoric from Iran as having contributed to this situation.

What Ahmedinejad said referred to something like "wiping the Israeli regime from the pages of history." It referred specifically to the regime, not the country or people, and according to a scholar of Iran deliberately echoed the term used by Khomeine when talking about putting an end to Saddam's regime during the Iran-Iraq war. That is not a threat for nuclear annihilation. The people who claim Islamist or Pro-Palestinian regimes are planning to nuke Israel ignore the obvious point that if they ever did so, they would kill hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, destroy many of their own most sacred monuments and irradiate forever the land they refer to the Holy Land.
It is interesting that these same people often are the ones (not including you) calling for a threat to nuke Mecca or Medina to stop Iran and the like; nuking the top two holiest sites is supposed to be a deterrent to people who are simultaneously alleged to be planning to nuke their third most holy territory that they apparently also desperately want back.
I think people are mocking Bill because he's repeatedly shown that he's not a serious poster and because he is utterly obsessed with nuking Muslim countries.
