Because Fatah was corrupt and really bad on Palestinian Domestic Policy? I'm not saying Hamas is better, but that seems to be the main reason cited by average palestinians, when interviewed as to how they voted and why. Regardless of the reasons though, they're now stuck with a Government that has defacto declared war on Israel by kidnapping soldiers and firing rockets.
