I almost brought this up, and it's widely overlooked. German women were almost never used in industry the way American and British women were, necessitating the use of slave labor, which was very inefficient. A lot of this, again, had to do with Nazi ideology and German attitudes toward women, but it's an important factor that deserves a lot more attention.
