Default Re: Open letter to Censored

When has she shown any assumption that her relation to Ed Miller gives her any extra credibility? I haven't seen all of her posts, but unless she somewhere pulled a "I'm Ed Miller's wife, bitch" in an argument, this point holds no water. She's being herself, she may get a free ride because of her hubbie's status, but that's not her fault.

Not so. Elaine has on more than one occasion alluded to "knowing the right people" and generally given the impression of someone who holds herself above the rank-and-file, and who instantly expects the right to lecture and be taken seriously. Perhaps she'd speak exactly the same way if she was just Elaine from Wherever, but that is not the impression she leaves. Consider the OP. Who on Earth would seriously consider making Elainemonster, the poster, a forum moderator? If this were to somehow happen (and why?), people would instantly come to the (probably correct) conclusion: Elaine was entrusted with this position because she's Ed's wife. On what other grounds could she possibly make her candidacy?

Also, she doesn't have to be concerned with earning anyone's welcome here, and neither should anyone else. That, I think, was the point of her whole mods message. The inmates running the asylum thing has gone a bit too far and some mods are taking themselves to seriously.

You don't have to earn the right to a welcome. You DO have to earn the right to have your sweeping criticisms listened to and taken seriously, if you don't want to just be blown off as This Angry Broad With A Hair Up Her Ass About Something. This can be done through the strength of an established reputation (negative) or through lucid, well-constructed arguments (highly controversial.)
