I dont know about Japan, and in Germany a public poll might have been very high on patriotism out of fear.

And you believe those Germans were being patriotic out of ...fear ??

Wow. Care to offer anything that supports this extraordinary argument? I mean, you would be upending the consensus of historians, Germans and non-Germans alike, as well as putting the lie to the figures of election results; no small feat.
