Default Re: Official NHL 2006 Off-Season Thread

Laviolette signs a 5-year deal. Our draft pick was something along the lines of backup stick boy, so Rutherford is trying to keep the core players together. Obviously have to let some go, esp. the guys that jumped on board for the cup run. Recchi, I believe, is headed back to Pittsburgh. Stillman indicated that he wants to finish out his career here. Interestingly, Doug Weight is still in Raleigh and hasn't returned to Missouri as of yesterday. House hunting (hehe)? He'd come with quite a price tag. Gerber will certainly be looking for a starting goalie position, as he doesn't want to be Ward's backup. It makes me nervous as hell to have Cam Ward starting. He did great in the playoffs, but Gerber got us there. Don't know if Ward can take an 82 game season.

Where the hell is Pronger headed and how can you trust a guy that takes off on a juicy 5-yr. deal? TSA was indicating Toronto, but who the hell would they trade for him? I couldn't see them giving up any of their core players, and no one else could come close to Pronger's worth. I feel for Edmonton--what a bastard!
