He didn't describe its disgustingness in any way except to say it was vegetarian, even when asked. He also said it all made him want to puke. I'm having a hard time believing every veggie dish served was actually bad enough to spark a gag reflex, or was even moderately gross. They're veggies fer crissake -- how bad can they be?

I really doubt the OP was ambused by horror food. It sounds like he made the worst of an unfamiliar situation.

It's pretty easy to make a vegetarian dish taste like crap and you know it.
